Installation instructions for Gen 1, 2, 3, and 4 tuning machines
Although we’ve updated the look, feel, and features of our tuning machines over the years, the installation remains nearly identical. If you have an earlier model of tuning machines, you might not have the cap. Other than that, the instructions below should work fine. Before You Install: Prepare Your Guitar
Riot gearless locking tuners increase the string break angle over the nut compared to standard tuners. Before installing, check that each nut slot moves freely under string tension — a binding nut groove is the most common cause of string breakage after installation, and it is straightforward to prevent.
